All the internships start on Monday morning and end on Tuesday afternoon.
On Monday morning, we will pick you up at Rougios, near Roure, with the donkeys who will carry your bags to Longon, allowing you to discover the art of carrying loads. Upon arrival, we will share lunch, then in the afternoon, we will discuss our profession together. In the evening, we will go to bring the animals back to their shelter. You will then have dinner with the passing hikers. The following morning, you will participate in the milking and cheese-making process. At noon, for a final exchange, we will share a snack.
The discussions will cover both technical aspects of livestock farming and cheesemaking, as well as pastoralism, its history, rules, and future. These questions will relate to our activity, our choices, and our constraints, from access to pastoral resources to milk processing, not forgetting the issue of predation. We will also discuss more broadly the future of French livestock farming. My farming roots, as the daughter of a farmer, and my background as an agricultural engineer, drive me every day to question the world of farming even more.
The stay includes: the load carrying, two lunches (2x €20), a half-board (dinner, overnight stay, breakfast) at €68 or €88 per person, depending on the chosen accommodation (dormitory or room), and the half-day internships (2x €50), totaling €208 or €228 per adult. Children will only pay for the meals and half-board. The group cannot exceed 10 adults.
Monday 23 & Tuesday 24 June, Monday 7 & Tuesday 8 July, Monday 25 & Tuesday 26 August, Monday 8 & Tuesday 9 September.
The internships must be booked in advance, and a deposit of €50 will be required. This deposit can be refunded in case of cancellation due to an orange or red alert issued by Météo France.
